Bumps On The Road To Love

It’s true that sometimes authors can be a tad sadistic to their characters by throwing obstacles in their paths, and I’m no exception.  But when you’re writing a romantic comedy, you’re supposed to make the road to love less than smooth for the leading man and lady, right?  So that’s what I’m doing with my current project.  And if I’m kind of enjoying that, is that really so wrong?

Mua ha ha…

I’m about 23,000 words into the first draft of my next Adventures in Blind Dating book, and I’m having a lot of fun dreaming up “bad date” ideas for my main character.  Have you ever googled “bad blind date stories”?  I have, and wow there are some doozies out there. Great fodder for the writer’s imagination.  And as I was using my imagination again today to write up my character Jenna’s latest dating disaster, I was reminded of a certain episode of Everybody Loves Raymond in which big brother Robert thinks his latest date might be “the one.”  If you haven’t seen it, check out the clip below.  Spoiler alert:  she most definitely is NOT “the one.”

At least I spared Jenna from frogs.  Well… so far, anyway.  🙂

And We’re Up And Running

Just a short and sweet blog post today because I’ve spent so much time on my computer lately that my eyeballs literally hurt and I need to rest them.  And possibly slap an icepack on them or something, although it’s going to be kind of interesting trying to explain to the doctor how I got freezer-burn on my eyeballs.

Anyway, before my eyes go on strike, I just wanted to share the preorder link on Amazon for Center Stage, which now has the official release date of March 21st.

Woo hoo!  (Blink, blink…)

Now off to look for that ice pack…

Cover Reveal For New Release–And Excerpt

Hey, there!  It’s time for the official cover reveal for the second book in my Adventures in Blind Dating romantic comedy series:  Center Stage.  I’m pleased to share it with you along with this book blurb:

When financially-strapped actor J.J. McKinney responds to an unusual Help Wanted ad on the bulletin board outside his theater class, he has no idea that he’s in for an evening of improv like no other: posing as the hitherto fabricated boyfriend of one Erika Mills for the duration of a single family reunion. But hey, a job is a job, and if it will help get J.J. back in the good graces of his landlord, he’s completely on board. After all, how bad can one family reunion possibly be?

Enter Erika Mills: only child of one meddling mother, reluctant darling of several devoted yet squabbling aunts and uncles who are sure they know what’s best for her even if none of them can agree on what that is, and beloved grandchild of the tiny white-haired family matriarch who might just be more imp than invalid when it comes to managing family matters in spite of appearances to the contrary.

Throw in a suspicious cousin, an obnoxious ex-boyfriend who is determined to erase that whole “ex” thing from Erika’s vocabulary, and a rash deathbed promise that turned out to be less deathbed and more just a bad case of indigestion, and you get the reunion from hell—at least until the sparks begin to fly for real.

It ain’t Off-Broadway, but it still might turn out to be the role of a lifetime…

Is it my imagination, or does the guy on the cover look a little like Michael Bublé?  Maybe I should have made the hero a singer instead of an actor.  Or maybe I need to get my eyes checked, but anyway…

Click here to read the opening excerpt.

The book should up for sale on Amazon later this month if edits go well, and next month I should have details for you about the third book in the series.

Until then… hope your March is off to a great start.  🙂

Some Say It’s The REAL Holiday…

I saw this image on a Facebook post this morning, and I briefly toyed with the idea of hotfooting it down to the local grocery store to take advantaged of such rumored prices. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t or else instead of typing this blog post I’d be lying passed out on my couch in a chocolate-induced food coma with chocolaty evidence of my indulgence smeared all over my hands and face.

Valentine’s Day was mostly chocolate-free around here actually–hubby and I decided to stay in instead of going out, and we whipped up a roasted chicken with caramelized root vegetables that turned out to be melt-in-your-mouth delicious; who needs chocolate?  Our thanks to the Food Network, and if you’d like to try this simple yet scrumptious recipe for yourself, visit the link here.

In addition to experimenting in the kitchen, I’ve been experimenting with the written word as I work on the next book in my romantic comedy Adventures in Blind Dating series which is long overdue.  You remember the first one, right?  Here’s a picture to jog your memory:

So yep, Book Two (Center Stage) is currently in the works and Book Three (The Fix-Up Mix-Up) isn’t far behind.  I’m happy to say that I should have cover art in a couple of weeks to show you for Book Two, and I hope to release it next month.  Fingers crossed…

In the meantime, here are pics from our Valentine’s Day featuring hubby modeling his favorite apron while he minces garlic; the finished chicken product; and the table that we set as prettily as possible but that is in reality usually covered in mail, books, and other assorted “stuff.”  So you see, I HAD to take a picture to document THAT…

Doesn’t look quite this pretty today, but it was fun while it lasted…  –GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Hope you had a great Valentine’s Day as well, and if you want to grab yourself some of that 70%-off candy, you’d better hurry before it gets switched out for the Easter sweets–

Oops, too late.  Dang, those grocery store stock boys work fast!  Well, enjoy those Cadbury cream eggs…

Release Day!

Yay!  Another Release Day has rolled around, and this time it’s for my latest romantic comedy, It Happened One Night:

ItHappenedOneNight 500x750-2

The book is up and running on Amazon and iTunes, and should be up any time now on Barnes & Noble, too.  (I’m not sure why it isn’t showing up on Barnes & Noble yet, although I am beginning to suspect it’s because someone there likes to watch me twitch…)

Initial reviews have been good–whew!–so if you’re in the mood to curl up for a quick, lighthearted read, consider checking it out, won’t you?  🙂

Now to get started on the next one…

9/30/15 (P.S.  It showed up on Barnes and Noble Wednesday morning, so I’ve updated the link.)

It’s Official!

While folks all around the country are sharing pics and news about their little ones’ first day back at school, I’m sharing news about my own little baby–namely, my upcoming romantic comedy It Happened One Night.  Release Day is official:  September 29th.  Yay!

ItHappenedOneNight 500x750-2

The book’s all set to go for release on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and–if I don’t fall down the formatting rabbit hole first–should be ready soon on Smashwords for distribution on iTunes, Kobo, and other ebook retailers.  Fingers crossed that I don’t pull out all my hair in the process…

Hope everyone has a great start to the school year!  🙂

Cover Reveal

Summer’s been a busy time for me.  How about you?  But in addition to several non-writing-related projects, I’ve been plugging away at another romantic comedy since I had so much fun writing Winging It.  (Hopefully you had fun reading it.)  I hope to be able to have it out by the end of August, but we’ll have to see…

Anyway, I thought I’d share the cover art and book blurb with you today, so here goes:

ItHappenedOneNight 500x750-2

Who has time for dating these days?  Certainly not struggling entrepreneur Paisley Jameson, who has way too much on her plate to pay any real attention to her shriveling social life.  And not mechanic Joe Spencer either, who has a lot on his mind with both the family business and family in general.  But neither can say no to the beloved mutual acquaintance who wants to set them both up on a blind date.

Which is too bad, because they both kind of wish they had said no when they show up for the dinner date and realize they’ve met before–and not under happy circumstances.

But fate seems determined to prove that they’re not so wrong for each other after all, because in spite of the intentions of both Paisley and Joe to nip this whole unfortunate blind date thing in the bud and go their separate ways, events transpire to keep them together for an evening involving muggers, foot-chases, and even a high-speed trip to the ER–

And that’s all before dessert.

Dating:  it’s not for wimps…

And there you have it.  Okay, off to finish writing the latest chapter…

It’s Release Day!!!

WingingIt 200x300

Yay!  Release Day is finally here for Winging It, and it’s already gotten a couple of wonderful reviews on Amazon.  Now that’s the way I like to start a book release day!

There’s an excerpt up over at Read Your Writes today, plus the original reviews that were cross-posted to Amazon can be read at Tome Tender and A Reader’s Review, but here are a couple of highlights:

“…If you’re looking for an uplifting, laugh-out-loud fast read Winging It is definitely for you! It really stands out from many other rom-com reads in a very punchy and vibrant way. And, it will leave you wanting more!”

“…a short but fabulously funny tale of the adventures of a feathery flight from incarceration and the heroes who braved just about every mishap imaginable! Fast, furious and never without humor, Ms. Feldman has created one of the best feel good reads I have ever read!”

If you’re interested in reading the book for yourself, it’s available now on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and it should be appearing on iTunes, Kobo, and other major ebook retailers shortly.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!  🙂

Upcoming Release

Just a quick note to let you know my newest release–a romantic comedy novella called Winging It— is set to be released May 20th.  Elaina Lee over at For the Muse Designs did a wonderful job with the cover art, and I’m delighted to share it with you here:

WingingIt 500x750

Along with the book blurb:

Up until now, straitlaced Simon Kirkendale has done an admirable job of keeping his high society mother’s demands for grandbabies at bay, but lately she’s kicked things into high gear. So he isn’t too disappointed to delay her latest matchmaking attempt when a pretty stranger hops into the backseat of his car en route to one of his mother’s dinner parties and tells him to drive. A car-jacking? Nope. More like a bird on the run, but this particular bird happens to be a parrot who has slipped its cage, and Simon’s new acquaintance desperately needs to get it back before she loses sight of it altogether.

Ever the nice guy—and okay, maybe also a little intrigued by the colorful Miss Juleen Pruitt’s sudden appearance in his car—Simon hits the gas pedal and obliges only to find himself unwittingly dragged into a wild goose chase around town for a bird who seems to be determined to either get itself killed or the two people trying to catch it. Simon’s money is on the latter.

But it turns out that a little disruption and chaos in his life might just be what Simon needs most—especially if it comes in the form of Juleen.

If he can just manage to survive meeting her…

And I’ll be putting up a page on the website with an excerpt shortly.  Have a lovely day!  🙂
