Time To Celebrate!

Today we’re celebrating reaching 1,000 Likes on Facebook, having a fourth book just recently released, and heck–just life in general. Plus the fact that it appears I’ve successfully gotten my first Rafflecopter giveaway up and running on Facebook!

Although I may have just jinxed it by saying that… Oops.

If you’re on Facebook, hop over and check it out–there’s a $20 Amazon gift card up for grabs. Click here to see for yourself.   🙂

I also wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has bought one of my books, posted a review, and helped make 2013 a memorable year.

Thank you!!!

Here Come the Holidays!

At the moment it doesn’t look very Christmasy where I live because it’s grey and raining, but in spite of Mother Nature’s grumpy beginning to the week, Christmas IS coming.  Have you got a tree up yet?  Have you played your first Christmas carol of the season?  Have you gorged yourself on any holiday sweets?

I haven’t done any of that yet, but I fully intend to do so.  Especially that last one.  🙂

(I try to live my life by the motto “seize the day,” but more often than not I slide more towards “life is short; eat dessert first–literally.”  They’re not totally at odds with each other…)

It’s weird to be planning for Christmas while promoting a New Year’s book and writing a Valentine’s Day story.  Sometimes I forget what day it is in real life.  It is December, right?  I hope so, because I’m really looking forward to certain holiday traditions.  This year I plan to  see as many Christmas light displays as possible with my hubby, bake up at least one batch of gingersnaps (and since it involve sweets, it’s got an especially good chance of happening), sip cocoa in front of the fire, and sing Christmas songs even if it’s only to my dog.  She’ll love it, I’m sure.  She may even try to join in.

I hope to have some giveaways for you this month, and I can share a couple of them with you today.  First, you can enter to win an ecopy of Pastels and Jingle Bells over at Clean Romance Reviews:

PastelsandJingleBells 200x300-1

And then there’s an ecopy of the second novella, Love Lessons, up for grabs at Rookie Romance:

LoveLessons 200x300

So what are you looking forward to this holiday season?

Winding Down…And Then Back Up Again

Well, the unofficial blog tour for Pastels and Jingle Bells is coming to a close, and it was lots of fun…

Pastels and Jingle Bells Banner 2-2-2

Thanks again to everyone who participated!  The novella wound up with some great reviews and good coverage on the web, and I couldn’t have asked for more.  I even got one more November review yesterday that wrapped things up beautifully on The Canon. (Thanks, Ellen!)

Pastels and Jingle Bells even made it onto the Amazon Bestselling Holiday Fiction list three separate times in November, which was very exciting:

And now the second Heavenly Bites novella, Love Lessons, is set to release tomorrow on Amazon and Barnes & Noble to tell Nadia’s story:

LoveLessons 200x300

Yay!  I’m pretty much glued to my computer these days, but I am feeling truly blessed to be able to have the opportunity to be so glued.  And now–I’d better get back to work on the third novella…

Have a good one!  🙂

Start Your Thanksgiving Off Right

Just a couple more days until Thanksgiving!  The other day I drove over to visit my parents, and I had to stop the car and wait for a flock of wild turkeys to cross the road–I’m pretty sure it was part of some massive attempt to flee the country until November is safely behind them.  I’d like to think that if nobody’s come after them yet, they’re safe for another year.

I’m not so sure how safe shoppers are, though, and I’m not even talking about Black Friday yet.  My husband came home from the grocery store yesterday, wide-eyed and astounded by how high the frozen turkeys had been stacked at the store.  Pull one down, and you’ll likely wind up getting crushed by the ones that come tumbling down after it.  And let’s face it, that’s not exactly the most dignified way to leave this world, is it?

Thanksgiving is a great time to be with loved ones and appreciate all the blessings in your life that might be easy to take for granted, but it’s true that it can be a tad stressful, too.  Especially for the cook!  (Love you, Mom…)  So just in case anybody needs something to make them smile or even giggle behind their hands, I found a few YouTube clips to share with you today…

This first one is more of a cautionary tale:

And this one is more in honor of those valiant wild turkeys I met the other day along with their turkey brethren everywhere:

And this last one is a longer clip from Everybody Loves Raymond especially intended for those who may be considering going the tofurkey route this year:

Okay, I think I’ve done my part to provide both humor and a well-rounded perspective on turkeys.  Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!  🙂

Next Countdown Begins

LoveLessons 200x300

Even though it feels like Pastels and Jingle Bells only came about five minutes ago, it’s actually almost time for the next novella in the Heavenly Bites series to be released:  Love Lessons.  It’s back from beta readers, edited, proofed, edited and proofed again, and finally formatted properly for Kindles and Nooks.  At least I think it is.  Guess we’ll find out for sure on December 1st after I’ve hit that little “Publish” button, won’t we?  Heh heh…

I’m excited about the second one coming out, but I have to admit I live in fear of sending it out into the wide world only to discover AFTER it’s been made public that there’s some sort of typo that I missed despite rereading the manuscript 15 times in the last two days alone, and that most unfortunate typo will turn out to mean something grossly offensive in some foreign language, and then I’ll spark an international incident, and…and…whoa, I’m getting dizzy…

[breathes into paper bag]

There we go.  Better.

Isn’t writing fun, boys and girls?  And the Release Day countdown begins…  🙂

Take A Deep Breath…Maybe Two

Do you ever get the feeling that your to-do list is somehow taking on a life of its own, growing and changing whenever you turn your back on it to the point where you lie awake thinking about it at night, and you get the feeling that if one more thing is added to it you will bare your teeth and start snarling like a rabid animal that’s been cornered, and people you know will start to back away from you slowly?

(Hey, I saw that!  You’re backing away from me slowly, aren’t you?  And now you’re speeding up…)

Or maybe you’ve noticed that every muscle in your body has apparently reached a state of perpetual tension in which you’ll either benefit from some truly AMAZING isometric toning or else something will just finally go sproing and you’ll flop over like a marionette that just got its strings snipped?

If you poked me right now, I’d probably go sproing.  How about you?  I know there’s some sort of saying about how it’s the pressure on the lump of coal that turns it into a diamond, but one has to be careful about offering up adages like that to people who are really stressed out, because it’s a good way for one to find oneself gagged and duct-taped to the wall for use as a human dartboard.

I kid, I kid… Sort of…

I’m feeling the pinch of deadlines and responsibilities right now, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.  There are friends whose face I haven’t seen in a long time because I’ve been in the depths of my writer’s cave for quite a while–Hi, guys!  Miss you!  My hubby thinks my laptop is some sort of new appendage I’ve sprouted, and my dog keeps trying to bat the laptop off of my lap so she can sit there instead.

I’m trying to come up for air once in a while so my family and friends will remember what I look like.  It’s quite the juggling act, and I’ll bet you’re juggling quite a few things, too; if you’ve got any tips on how to maintain one’s sanity, I’d welcome them!  And I promise I won’t touch the duct tape.

In the meantime, I’m going to get back to work on Playing Cupid.  Fingers crossed about that isometric toning!

So Here’s The Plan…

While I’m not doing an official blog tour for the release of Pastels and Jingle Bells, I do have several visits lined up on different blogs throughout the month of November that include guest posts, giveaways, reviews, and excerpts.  But now it’s become a little more official, thanks in large part to Sandy at The Reading Cafe, who provided this wonderful banner:

Some of these were arranged quite a while ago, so it’s possible unforeseen circumstances could arise and alter things a wee bit, and there are a couple of others that haven’t confirmed dates–but this is a pretty good starting point!

And it all gets underway in just a few more days…

Blog Tour For New Release! (Sort Of…)

I have never done a blog tour before; in fact, I’m not one hundred percent sure I know what one is, but I believe it’s what you have when somebody–like an author (me–ta da!)–arranges “stops” on lots of bloggers’ sites in order to promote something.  Like, say, a book.

Well, I’ve got a book coming out next week (nice little plug there, don’t you think?), and in preparation I’ve emailed about 150 bloggers/reviewers to see if some of them would be interested/willing/open-to-bribes when it comes to my Christmas novella, Pastels and Jingle Bells.  I’m happy to report no bribes were necessary–which is good, because I’m poor–and several bloggers were kind enough to not only respond to my emails but agree to have me “stop by” their blogs.

(Thank you, you guys!)

So I’m going on tour for the month of November!  Woo hoo!  And all without leaving the comfort of my living room or needing to worry about airfare, groupies, or trashing hotel rooms–because we all know how wild authors can get…  There will be book spotlights, reviews, excerpts, guest posts, and giveaways galore!

PastelsandJingleBells 200x300-1

And the countdown to release day (November 1st) begins…  🙂
